a week of firsts

This week has meant big business for the baby book in terms of firsts for Ruby.  There may be a tie for the biggest one: using the potty or sleeping in her own bed.

Yeah, I'm not kidding.

However, it must be noted that she isn't exactly sleeping in her own horrible, terrible, no good, very bad bed that she is absolutely terrified of; she is sleeping on a mattress beside our bed in our room. Baby steps. She slept nine solid hours all by herself, then snuggled up with me this morning.  It was heaven to not have a babycake-turned-sideways jabbing her head into my ribs all night.  So far, my neck doesn't hurt either.  Let's hope it wasn't a fluke.

The potty thing is a work-in-progress.  It's not something I am forcing on her, but she sits on there when she asks to, and we have had a lot of success with it.

I also fixed her hair, cute ponytail style for the first time; she looks so grown up to me!

And finally, she mastered the art of blowing bubbles with Papa.  In her eyes, my dad is the bubble master, but this week she figured out that she could blow them too, one boring bubble at a time.  She still prefers to catch them after Papa lets mass amounts of them fly.

And in other baby book-related news; we are DONE teething until it's time for the two year molars.

My baby is growing up before my very eyes.

Sounds like things are coming along nicely.

It all is going by so fast. We are still working on the potty thing. Hate it! I wish she would magically "get it". But alas, many accidents later, and we are still struggling at 2 1/2.

She is so stinkin adorable that I must have her!! Especially now that she is potty training! Woot Woot! Way to go on your approach to it. I feel that letting them make the call handles that whole control issue quite nicely.
I still cosleep the majority of the time with a 4yo, 2yo and 6mo. I haven't slept with my husband in 15 months (yes..count back from the 6mo. That's why he refuses to sleep with me!)
Thanks for sending me your link. I enjoyed reading your post and seeing that adorable girl with her cutesy ponytail!
