Girl's Day Out

Ruby and I spent the day out and about town today while Jimmy stayed home with several guy friends and worked on the future patio (concrete was poured today).

Despite the car having a minor issue and the sun attempting to saute us right in the seat of our car, we had a great day.  It was nothing extravagant, but some extra special time with my sweet girl, which is always treasured time.

And I know this is weird, but the kid basically refuses to get down and walk.  Today, she demonstrated some beautiful toddler fit-throwing with the silent kind of crying (you know the type- mouth opened, threatening to scream if you don't solve the immediately).  It's sort of a sticky situation because I can't exactly pull the whole Okay, you stay there and throw your fit while I go over here because she's only 18 months.  And honestly?  I always wish I had someone to carry me when I am shopping, so I suppose I can't blame her.  But lugging around 25 pounds of dead weight is only so fun for so long.

We started out our day at the Children's Museum which is a wonderful place for kids, but I think Ruby will enjoy it more in about 6 months.  She did have fun, and we found things to do there for more than an hour, but there are quite a few more things that will be geared towards her when she is a little bit bigger.

We ran some random errands, I bought clothes without trying on which may result in some anger later, I struggled to make it past the bakery whilst grocery shopping.  Okay, fine.  I didn't make it past and I bought two whole containers of doughnuts.

We had Sonic for lunch and when I went to give Ruby her grilled cheese, she was fast asleep.  So I enjoyed a quiet ride home and she got a nap in which turned out perfect.

A quiet drive = lots of time to reflect.  I am so unbelieveably proud to be the mom to this special little girl.  I can't believe how much my life has changed in the last two years; motherhood is the most satisfying job in the entire world.

Happy Mother's Day!
